This Domain, based in Santenay since the 1960s, produces high-quality wines while maintaining a very reasonable pricing policy. The brothers Claude and Hervé Muzard are experts in their field and continue the family tradition, gradually involving their children in the domain, especially Capucine, Claude's daughter. Quality work is carried out in both the vineyard and the winery. The estate's old vineyards, which extend widely over Santenay, but also Pommard, Maranges, and Chassagne, are carefully preserved, and the Muzard brothers were the first to understand the importance of the vine's genetic heritage, based on mass selection and deliberately limited yields to avoid exhausting the vine. The vines are pampered, and the soils are worked. The red wines dominate here, with a good proportion of whole-cluster fermentation to preserve freshness, increased drinkability, and the recognizable floral touch of the estate. The wines, however, have retained their crunchy and fleshy fruitiness unique to the estate. Although approachable when young, the wines have a nice depth and potential. The magnums of wines from Domaine Lucien Muzard presented on this site are directly sourced from the estate.
