Champagne Roederer Brut Collection 242 -
The Champagne Roederer Brut Collection 242 marks a turning point in Maison Louis Roederer's approach by incorporating more reserve wines and highlighting the freshness of the Champagne terroirs in response to climate change. Unlike Collection 241, which was based on the 2016 vintage, Collection 242 is centered around the 2017 harvest, a year characterized by contrasting and sometimes challenging weather conditions, with an early spring followed by an unstable summer. Thanks to the expertise of the house, the result is a precise, elegant, and structured wine.
This cuvée includes a significant portion of reserve wines aged in wood, bringing complexity and depth, as well as a "perpetual reserve," a multi-vintage blend introduced by the House to preserve the Roederer identity over time.
The Pinot Noirs contribute richness, structure, and ripe yellow fruit aromas, while the Chardonnays provide finesse, tension, and a saline, chalky backbone. The Meunier, in lesser proportion, softens and harmonizes the blend with suppleness.
In the mouth, Collection 242 stands out for its beautiful freshness, limestone minerality, and elegant, integrated effervescence. It reveals notes of stone fruits, citrus zest, fresh almonds, and a delicately woody, saline touch on the finish. The overall result is a refined, balanced, vibrant champagne deeply rooted in its terroir.
Origins: the grapes mainly come from plots classified as premier and grand cru, from the three main Champagne regions: La Rivière, La Montagne, and La Côte. This is enriched by a selection of plots from partner winemakers who are loyal to the Roederer style.
