An exceptional monopoly

Located just a stone's throw away from the legendary Clos de Vougeot, the Clos du Prieuré forms an exclusive 0.98 ha enclave, a unique property of Domaine de la Vougeraie. Its clay-limestone soils provide excellent drainage, offering the pinot noir a terroir of great precision. Managed in certified biodynamics for over twenty years, this vineyard expresses with purity the refined elegance of the Côte de Nuits.

Vintage 2021: Burgundian freshness

After meticulous manual harvesting, the grapes are delicately vinified in open vats, with gentle pump-overs and punch-downs to preserve the finesse of the fruit. The 16-month aging in oak barrels (including approximately 30% new wood) refines the texture without masking the identity of the cru.

Tasting

• Color: deep ruby with purple reflections.
• Nose: violet, Morello cherry, and blackcurrant, nuanced with light touches of sweet spices and undergrowth.
• Palate: soft attack, fine and tight tannins, lively freshness supported by an elegant minerality; the persistent finish is adorned with a hint of licorice.

Ideal with a game stew, roasted poultry with mushrooms, a confit rack of lamb, or soft-washed rind cheeses (Époisses, Munster).

Decant for 30 minutes and serve between 16 and 18 °C. This magnum can be aged in the cellar for 8 to 12 years, gaining in complexity and depth.
