Champagne Dom Pérignon Vintage 2017 - Moët & Chandon
The Dom Pérignon Vintage 2017 is the result of an exceptional year, marked by record-breaking heat, spring frosts, and a hot and dry summer, followed by late August rains that challenged the winemakers. It is a creative tension embraced, driven by a risky decision at harvest which turned out to be the last major act of Richard Geoffroy after thirty years as the head of the house. The remarkably mature chardonnays bring breadth, texture, and brightness, while the rarer pinot noirs this year provide structure, depth, and precision. The wine presents a light yellow color with golden reflections, showcasing a fine and persistent effervescence. On the nose, the champagne reveals depth and complexity: ripe fruits, citrus, floral notes, toasty hints, and mineral nuances blend elegantly. On the palate, a striking duality unfolds between bitterness and acidity, sweetness and tension, richness and sharpness, leading to a mineral and sparkling finish that lingers long with fruity, citrusy, and toasty notes. This Dom Pérignon 2017, aged for nearly nine years in the cellar, is best enjoyed from now on and can continue to improve for another two decades.
