This magnum of Aloxe 1st cru Les Valozières 2023 from Pierre-Olivier Garcia is the newcomer in Pierre Olivier's confidential range (all cuvées are produced in quantities of less than 1200 bottles per climate).

Once again, Pierre Olivier Garcia uses an atypical technique called "berry by berry" here: it involves harvesting and drastically sorting the grapes, cutting the stem (the vegetal part of the cluster) with scissors to leave the pedicel (the stem in contact with the grape berry) intact. A very time-consuming and labor-intensive practice, thus rarely used by winemakers. Without compromise, Pierre-Olivier applies it to all his cuvées, representing one-third of the harvest (1/3 is destemmed, the other third is whole-cluster fermentation). The result is a very promising wine, with the berry-by-berry technique seemingly blending perfectly with this ideally located terroir at the foot of the Corton Grand Cru Bressandes. It displays all the seriousness of Aloxe wines (black fruit, structured tannins) but refined to perfection by Pierre-Olivier's winemaking, bringing velvety texture, finesse, and a lace-like mouthfeel to the whole. A delicate and floral wine that finishes with a beautiful length!
