This bottle of 2023 Meursault white wine from the Joseph Drouhin estate expresses the quintessence of great whites from the Côte de Beaune and the Drouhin house in particular. A few kilometers south of Beaune, Meursault is the favorite playground of the Chardonnay grape, which expresses itself wonderfully on this gently sloping clay-limestone soil. This 2023 Meursault is of great refinement. The aromatic palette is wide and complex, with notes of honey, honeysuckle, butter, hazelnut, and white flowers. On the palate, the wine displays all its natural class, with a perfect balance between buttery roundness and mineral acidity, all sublimated by 16 months of high-end oak barrel aging. With a silky texture, the length of this wine is impressive. It can be enjoyed at the table with a Bresse chicken with morel mushrooms or even a seafood platter.
