Magnum of Givry 1er Cru red wine
This magnum of Givry 1er Cru Clos du Cellier aux Moines 2018 from Cellier aux Moines comes from a historic plot of Givry identified for centuries by the Cistercian monks as one of the flagship vineyards of Burgundy, beautifully exposed to the south, below the monks' cellar (built around 1130). The vines at Cellier are farmed biodynamically and the grapes are partially destemmed and then put into vats almost intact to preserve all their aromatic and gustatory potential. The wine is aged in oak barrels for 18 months.
This 2018 vintage is much more powerful and concentrated than the elegant 2017. Here, we find the power and aromatic warmth of the vintage, with notes of red and black fruits, licorice, peony, spices, and orange peel. A wine that will age beautifully in this vintage.
