This magnum of red wine Saint-Aubin en Vesvau 2013 from Domaine Derain  is a pure delight in its natural state. Dominique Derain, through hard work and conviction in his ideas, has rightfully earned the reputation of a trailblazer who has influenced many young winemakers. A skilled winemaker and a fine connoisseur of terroirs, he knows how to interpret the relationship between terroir and vine like no one else, and the contribution of biodynamics to support the connection between the plant and its environment. With him, there are no artifices or disguises, the wines are a true reflection of him, sincere and authentic. Carole and Julien Altaber have taken over the reins since 2016 (faithful right-hand people of Dominique since 2002), brilliantly preserving the "Derain touch". Fresh, flavorful, and digestible juices. All this with little to no added sulfur. This magnum of Saint-Aubin En Vesvau comes from Dominique's "heartfelt" vineyard, where everything started. A plot not planted since the phylloxera epidemic that Dominique himself planted. A steep slope, a cool terroir with little sun exposure, wild and surrounded by forests, a mystical place that Dominique absorbed throughout his career. All the work is done by hand, and the vine is cultivated like a garden. Yields are very low, but the wine produced is impressive, even unique. This magnum comes directly from Dominique's cellar. Perfectly stored for a wine full of tension, aromatics, and deliciousness. A natural balance with a unique vigor. A special wine, always harvested last at the estate. Grand and unique!
